Glenview Neighborhood

I help busy Maryland professionals maximize their returns on real estate sales with ease.

Glenview is a small established neighborhood of 2500 people in Silver Spring. It is north of Downtown Silver Spring, closer to Wheaton. The neighborhood boundaries are east of Georgia Ave, north of Dennis Ave, west of Sligo Creek Pkwy, and south of University Blvd. Sligo Middle School is off Dennis Ave and Sligo Creek Pkwy.

Like other Silver Spring neighborhoods, you come to Glenview for the neighborhood parks and trees. Evans Parkway Neighborhood Park is a 5 acre park featuring a playground, picnic area, basketball court, two tennis courts. It was a pilot project for the Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES) and was developed by OCULUS. The design featured recycled materials, native plans, and rain gardens in an effort to blend nature and human use. They also restored the stream and its banks and created an artistic pedestrian bridge. Glen Haven Neighborhood Park is a 5 acre undeveloped woodland park. And of course hop on Sligo Creek Trail – 10 miles of which is located in Montgomery County.

East of GA Ave and south of University Blvd, you find a number of shops and restaurants, a Safeway, and the Wheaton metro station (part of the red line). The Wheaton Station has the longest single span escalator in the northern hemisphere which takes 3 mins to travel from top to bottom, a vertical rise of 115 ft. Fun trivia point, less fun when you are commuting and the escalator is turned off.

The Glenview Neighborhood Association has a new website and facebook page as they are establishing themselves formally with the county.
